Lay & Wheeler Wine Bar, London

Yonder Creative were engaged by the specialist wine importer Hallgarten & Novum, who are the contracted wine supplier to the LW Theatres Group, to design the new Lay & Wheeler Wine Bar at His Majesty’s Theatre.This project saw a reimagining of the Royal Circle Bar space, blending contemporary design with the enduring grandeur of this historic Grade II listed building.

Our conceptualisation drew on references from the Victorian period of which His Majesty’s Theatre was constructed, Lay & Wheeler was established and in which Phantom of the Opera (running at the theatre since 1986) is set. 

The bar and the terrace have been transformed, with opulent design notes such as dark wood married with brass detailing, feature illumination and formal topiary. In addition to the aesthetic uplift, practical consideration was given to the materials specification including durable solid surface countertops and service provision solutions with, for example, recessed suspended glassware storage.

All resulting in an enhanced customer experience for this bar space that serves over 200+ customers within constrained pre/post-performance and interval periods.
